Slow and Steady Wins the Race

At some point in time, we have all experienced the difficulties of following a health and fitness plan, so you can only imagine how tough it would be to lose 40kg. Especially when negativity creeps in with the sneaky cheat day here and there. How determined would you be to leave it all behind and never break with the end goal to love your body and be proud of your appearance.

At a starting weight of 107kg, Alex Treglown (on the left) only ever dreamt of completing a 42km marathon. No one believed his dreams or in him, as he gave up countless times before. However, one day something switched in Alex’s mind and one year later, after he lost 40kg he ended up walking to the starting line of a marathon in Sydney.

Alex decided to focus on his diet and exercise and after a few months, his mindset and lifestyle had completely transformed. He had a network of support, but it all came down to his determination. After a year of training, Alex and his best friend and biggest supporter Thomas Coates (on the right) crossed the 42km marathon finish line, with painful legs but award-winning smiles as they completed a huge milestone achievement for them both.

Alex reflects on the mixed emotions of pain and triumph as he completed the race. He gave it his all and collapsed from exhaustion at the finish line. This inspiring story demonstrates that if you put your mind to it, you can achieve your goals just like Alex.
